Culture collection

Culture collection of cyanobacteria at Department of Hydrobiology (Adam Mickiewicz University) was started in 2013 by Lukasz Wejnerowski. The main goal of the collection is to collect various clonal cultures of filamentous cyanobacteria from Wielkopolska Region in Poland. Strains obtained are cultivated using different methods: batch culture, fed-batch culture, continuous culture in chemostats. Up to now, the collection has several strains of cyanobacteria of the genera Aphanizomenon, Cylindrospermopsis, Geitlerinema, Microcystis, Planktothrix. The collection is gradually being extended with new isolates.
